What is Saju?
Saju, often called the Korean Four Pillars of Destiny, is a traditional way of arranging birth-time information. Learning its structure makes a reading easier to approach with perspective.
Four pillars and eight characters
The birth year, month, day, and hour make four pillars. Every pillar contains a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch, so the chart has eight characters. The chart is a relationship map: a single zodiac animal or one character cannot describe a whole person.
Why the day pillar matters
Many readings use the stem of the day pillar as a reference point, then discuss its relationship with the other characters and the season. This is a starting point for interpretation, not a label that defines your ability, value, or future.
Calculation is not interpretation
Calculating a chart converts a date and time through calendar rules. Interpreting it connects the result with seasonal images, the Five Elements, and traditional relationships. Different traditions may emphasize different aspects of the same chart, so a reading should be received as reflection rather than certainty.
